Production of the first Ford Mustangs began in March of 1964 in Dearborn Michigan, and it was introduced to the public in April 1964 at the New York World's Fair. The original concept and design was not based on a performance car. Ford was quick in making design changes in the Mustang that catered to the car buying public looking for a sports car offering high performance. Four decades later the Ford Mustang continues to evolve.
